Quantum Computing, AI, and Lunch at Felipe’s Mexican

Quantum Computing, AI, and Lunch at Filipes

What do you think about multiverses?
This was the opening question from my 25-year-old son at lunch last week.

He had just read about Willow, the new computer chip by Google, that solves problems in 5 minutes that today’s supercomputers take ten septillion years. And it does it with exponentially fewer errors while also uncovering the existence of multiverses.

You can imagine lunch went longer than usual. How do you even scratch the surface of quantum computing and the possibility of multiple universes over lunch at Felipe’s? LOL

Willow is historic, born in the middle of an already historic AI revolution.

How will work change in light of the new technology superpowers? We don’t know for sure, but we know it is already happening.

From marketers to data analysts, to leaders in enterprise and the military, AI is being tested to increase productivity and efficiency in ways we could only imagine 2 years ago. And it is maturing faster than a teenager in puberty – doing today what it couldn’t do last week!

It’s a whirlwind of excitement and feels like raising a teenager!

Last week, I set up a custom GPT to prompt me (instead of me prompting it) through podcast planning. Yesterday, I watched a classmate from college demo the new Gemini Visual Mode. Gemini can converse and analyze a book shown to “him” as if you are on Zoom with “him.” They (Gemini & Bart) were talking about Bart’s book. Gemini just saw a page by video.

Meanwhile in Japan, robots and cobots are already working in healthcare in preparation for an aging population with fewer young workers.  Work has begun already to augment beginners in construction to use VR to equip them with the knowledge of a 20 year veteran in construction. These are just a couple of the more mature use cases I’ve heard about.

We’re talking about extreme change in how work is done in the coming years.
I couldn’t provide a solid answer to the question of multiverses over tacos, but  I loved discussing all that is happening in tech with my son from a faith and hope perspective.

I’m thoughtful about the implications of handling such great power.
I’m prayerful about the dangers that those with evil intentions can do.
I’m hopeful for the gains these new technologies can bring to the world.

Welcome Willow. I look forward to getting to know you, Visual Gemini.

I’m thankful for the power of faith and hope, which comes from the Creator of all things, to see us through these superpower transitions.
